We replaced the old stanchions and pulpits with new custom, tapered stainless steel stanchions that are optimized for hiking. We tipped the stanchions out to the maximum allowable in PHRF. This allows the crew to sit farther outboard and improves hiking. Better hiking means more righting moment and better up wind performance. This is perhaps a performance item that another shop might have missed.
